What is the actual Plofair package - and how the flight + hotel price beats doing it yourself
A Plofair package is flight plus hotel checked daily from Stansted and Luton. See what £109 pp gets you in Alicante and why DIY booking rarely beats it.
Say Priya wants a weekend in Alicante in October. She opens one tab for Ryanair, another for a hotel site, picks a nice-looking three-star near the old town, and starts adding things up. Flight: fine. Hotel: fine. Total: she has no idea if it's good until she's spent forty minutes checking.
That's the actual problem a Plofair package solves. Not finding a flight or a hotel. Finding out, in one number, whether the combination is worth booking today.
What a Plofair package actually is
A package on Plofair is a flight from Stansted or Luton plus a stay in the destination city, priced together as one per-person total. We check these combinations every day across nine cities: Barcelona, Madrid, Lisbon, Rome, Milan, Alicante, Berlin, Palma and Porto.
We're not a travel agent and we don't sell you anything directly. You still book the flight and the room through the usual channels. What Plofair does is watch the maths daily and tell you when the combined price is genuinely low against what we've seen on that route recently, so you're not left guessing whether £109pp for Alicante is a good number or an average one.
Every stay we surface sits at a guest score of 8.0 or higher, so you're not trading a cheap total for a hotel that turns out to be a mattress and a lightbulb. Where we have it, we show the star rating too, so a 4-star at 8.2 reads differently to a 3-star at 8.1, even if the price looks the same.
Back to Priya: the DIY total versus the package total
Priya's DIY approach has a hidden flaw. She's optimising two things separately. The cheapest flight she finds might land at an awkward time, forcing her into a pricier hotel because the good ones near the airport bus route are gone by the time she checks. Or she books a lovely mid-range hotel first, then finds the only flights left that fit her dates are the expensive ones.
A package is built the other way round: we look at flight plus stay together and surface the combination where the total is low, not just one half of it. That's a different optimisation, and it's usually the one that matters when you're paying for both.

Our checks on 17 August 2026 show a live package low of £109 per adult for Alicante and £111 per adult for Madrid. Berlin comes in at £101 per adult, Porto at £109 per adult, and Milan (via Bergamo) at £86 per adult — all flight plus stay, all with that 8.0+ guest score floor already applied.
| City | Live package low (per adult) |
|---|---|
| Milan (Bergamo) | £86 |
| Berlin | £101 |
| Porto | £109 |
| Alicante | £109 |
| Madrid | £111 |
These are prices we saw on live package checks as of 17 August 2026 for weekend-style city breaks from Stansted and Luton. They move daily, sometimes by a fair margin, which is exactly why checking once and booking is riskier than it feels.
Why the combined price usually beats booking each half separately
Three reasons this holds up more often than not:
- Timing mismatches cost money. The cheapest Ryanair or easyJet fare on a given route often lands on a day when hotel rates in that city are also low, because low season for flights and low season for stays tend to line up. Book them on different days, on different sites, and you can miss that overlap entirely.
- You stop anchoring on one number. A £40 flight feels like a win on its own. It's a much smaller win if the only hotel with rooms left that weekend has jumped £50 above its usual rate. Package thinking forces you to look at the total, which is the number that actually leaves your account.
- The 8.0 floor protects the "too good to be true" trap. Rock-bottom hotel prices usually come with a reason attached. Because every stay in a Plofair package sits above that guest score line, the cheap total isn't cheap because the room is bad.
What the package price doesn't include
Worth being straight about this. The per-person figure is flight plus stay, checked and shown as a total. It won't include airline extras like checked bags or seat selection, and it won't include spending money once you land. It's the two biggest fixed costs of a weekend away, priced honestly together, not a fully inclusive holiday quote.
How to actually use this
If Priya browses the Alicante package page instead of two separate tabs, she sees today's live combined price straight away, checks the hotel's guest score, and can compare it mentally against what she'd expect to pay if she pieced it together herself. If Alicante doesn't fit her dates, Porto and Berlin are both sitting at similar per-person lows this week.
The wider packages page is worth a browse if you're not fixed on a city yet — it's the fastest way to see which of the nine destinations is cheapest against its own recent history right now, rather than guessing from memory.
Prices move daily, and the whole point of Plofair is that we're checking so you don't have to keep three tabs open every evening. Set up free deal alerts for the cities you'd actually book, and we'll flag it when the combined price drops meaningfully below what we've been seeing.
Priya's forty minutes of tab-juggling becomes one glance at a number that's already done the comparison for her. That's the actual difference: not a secret discount, just the two halves of the trip priced honestly, together, every day.
